On a tip-off, a team of the HSPCB, Yamunanagar, headed by Abhijeet Singh Tanwar, Assistant Environment Engineer, conducted an inspection at several stone crushers and found that there was no seal on the machineries of three stone crushers at Rampur Khadar village in the district. The three stone crushers were resealed by the team.
“However, these units were non-operational at that time,” said Virender Singh Punia, Regional Officer, HSPCB, Yamunanagar.
The stone crushers had been closed by the Haryana State Pollution Control Board in compliance with a closure order issued by the chairman of the board in 2020 under Section 31-A of the Air Act, 1981.
The HSPCB had sealed 75 screening plants and stone crushers for alleged violation of air and water pollution norms. After resealing the three stone crushers, the authorities requested the Mines and Geology Department to suspend the 75 screening plants and stone crushers’ access to the e-rawana portal. Punia said they were keeping a close eye on stone crushers, screening plants and other units.
