Security up in Gurugram ahead of Republic Day

The Gurugram police are beefing up security here ahead of the Republic Day by using drones to monitor venues in order to avoid any untoward incident.

A senior police officer said tight security arrangements have been made to ensure law and order, along with smooth vehicular movement, in Gurugram.

Police spokesperson Subhash Boken said Section 144 of the CrPC has been imposed and the use of drones, aircraft, gliders, air balloons, kites and micro lights has been completely banned here till January 26. Boken further said PGs, hotels, guest houses, restaurants and cyber cafes are also being investigated.

“This year, the Republic Day programmes will be organised at five sites — Tau Devi Lal Stadium here, Gurugram Martyr and Freedom Fighter Memorial Stadium in Nakhdola, Government Senior Secondary School (Boys) in Pataudi, Government Model Sanskriti Senior Secondary School in Sushant Lok and Tau Devi Lal Stadium in Sohna. In order to ensure security at all these venues, the police are also using drones,” said Boken.

Riders of the Gurugram police, PCR and intelligence teams will be deployed and three-layer security checking of the visitors will also be carried out. Besides, traffic police officials will be deployed to regulate vehicular movement here.
