Congress MP Kumari Selja has backed Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi’s press conference on ‘vote chori’, and said he has exposed vote rigging. She said the LoP had, once again, brought before the nation how votes were systematically manipulated through a planned conspiracy.

She was speaking to mediapersons in Assandh on Thursday, where Selja, former Union minister Birender Singh, former MP Brijendra Singh, former MP DP Ray and others celebrated the 70th birthday of former Assandh MLA Shamsher Singh Gogi.

“The votes that belonged to Congress were deliberately cut and altered in a well-coordinated manner. This is a serious threat to our democracy. To protect democracy, everyone must stand together,” Selja said. Speaking on the petition filed in the Punjab and Haryana High Court pertaining to the Uchana constituency, Selja said the application was dismissed by the court.

She said Congress candidate Brijendra Singh would ultimately prevail once counting was conducted under proper court orders. “We have full faith in our judiciary. When the process is carried out transparently, Brijendra Singh will certainly win,” she asserted.

Commenting on BJP’s internal disputes, Selja said, “Everyone points fingers at us, but look at what is happening within BJP today. Ministers and MLAs are unhappy, and factionalism is visible everywhere in the government.”

Meanwhile, former Hisar MP Brijendra Singh refrained from commenting on the ongoing court case regarding his petition against BJP’s MLA Devender Attri in Uchana. He said, “The matter is before the court, and I would not comment. A reserved order was passed today, and the next hearing has been scheduled.”

On party reorganisation in Haryana, Brijendra welcomed the recent appointment of new district presidents after 12 years. “It is a very good beginning. The first phase of expanding the organisation is complete, and more people will be included at district and block levels. If given any responsibility, I will surely fulfil it,” he added. Birender Singh, when asked about the issue of Anil Vij removing the word ‘minister’ from his social handle, said he was in the habit of doing such a thing. Gogi expressed gratitude to attendees for coming in large numbers to celebrate his birthday.
