Selja flays SAI's move to drop games
Hisar, April 9
Former Union minister Kumari Selja, who is also the general secretary of the All India Congress Committee, has lambasted the decision of the Sports Authority of India (SAI) to drop boxing from its Bhiwani centre and hockey from the Hisar centre.
In a letter to Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar, Selja alleged the BJP-JJP government, at first, abolished sportspersons’ government job quota and now keeping a “conspicuous” silence on the move of SAI. The Congress leader said Haryana had earned name and fame at the national and international stages due to the achievements of sportspersons. She stated the Haryana government should take up the matter with the Central Government over the issue.
