Sirsa MP Kumari Selja has written to Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, requesting the construction of underpasses at two locations on National Highway-9.

Selja emphasised that frequent accidents occur at these spots due to open cuts in the highway, causing loss of lives and property. She also pointed out that the lack of underpasses creates major difficulties for farmers, especially during harvest season.

In her letter, Selja mentioned that village sarpanches and residents of Fatehabad district have demanded an underpass between stone numbers 132 and 133 on NH-9 near Majra Road. This road connects Fatehabad city with 17 villages. Due to the highway cut at this location, accidents occur frequently. She urged the authorities to close this cut and build an underpass to ensure farmers and villagers can travel safely.

Selja also highlighted another dangerous location at CH number 221 700 on the Hisar-Sirsa stretch of NH-9. Here, a link road connects Daulatpur and Hijrawa Kalan, serving 15-20 villages. During the harvest season, heavy traffic flow increases the risk of mishaps.

The Hanspur-Nagpur Bypass NH-9 Struggle Committee has requested an underpass here as well. Kumari Selja urged Nitin Gadkari to prioritise both projects for public safety.
