A police official said some paper slips were recovered from the spot, but he did not disclose what was written in these. City police station SHO Satish Kumar said a case had been registered in this regard, and the matter was being investigated.

As per an official of the Excise and Taxation Department, Yamunanagar, there are 55 liquor zones in the district, which are schedule to be auctioned for financial year 2025-26 on May 31.

Sources said a business rivalry may be behind the firing incident.
