Sex determination test racket busted, one arrested in Kaithal

A joint team of health officials from Kurukshetra and Kaithal districts conducted a raid and busted a sex determination test racket in Kaithal on Saturday. The accused was identified as Rishipal, a resident of Kaithal.

Kurukshetra Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr Ramesh Sabharwal said the health authorities got information that some people in Kurukshetra and Kaithal were involved in the sex determination test racket and they conducted the test. A contact was established with the accused and a deal was fixed in Rs 30,000. A decoy woman was arranged. The decoy pregnant woman was asked to reach Pehowa Chowk in Kaithal for the test. Rishipal reached there on a two-wheeler and took the woman to Manas village, performed the test and was caught with the help of the police when he was coming back to drop the woman.

The official said that the woman disclosed that Rishipal took her to a house at Manas village and performed the ultrasound test. Following the disclosure, Rishipal was taken by the team to house from where a portable ultrasound machine was recovered. The money given by the decoy to the accused was also recovered.

Dr Ramesh Sabharwal said Rishipal was operating alone. Earlier, he used to work at a hospital and also worked as a medical representative. He was not a qualified person to conduct the test and he was arrested in the past too. A case has been registered in Kaithal and further investigation is being done by the police.
