The Gurugram police have busted a sex racket and arrested three persons, including two women. The accused allegedly created WhatsApp groups to find customers. An FIR has been registered at the DLF Phase 1 police station.

According to the police, they received information on Wednesday that a prostitution racket was being operated through WhatsApp, with women being sent on demand at high rates.

Acting on this tip-off, a special team was formed under the leadership of ACP Headquarters Sushila. Head Constable Prem Prakash was assigned the role of a decoy customer. The team contacted the number mentioned in the complaint via a WhatsApp call, but when the call went unanswered, they initiated contact through a message. After receiving details about the services, they finalised a deal for Rs 20,000.

Prakash was given Rs 3,000 in signed notes and sent to a hotel room. About 25 minutes later, the accused arrived with two women and demanded payment. As soon as the money was handed over, the police team moved in and arrested all three. The signed Rs 3,000 notes were recovered from their possession.

The man was identified as Satyapal, a resident of Kotputli, Rajasthan, while the two arrested women were from Kolkata and Tripura.

“During interrogation, Satyapal revealed that a person named Raja is running the prostitution racket through WhatsApp. The women receive a share, while the rest of the earnings go to Raja. He said he arranged women whenever there was a demand,” a senior police officer said.

An FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, and raids are being conducted to arrest Raja, the alleged kingpin of the racket.
