Alleging discharge of polluted water and gases, villagers staged a dharna outside a factory in Shahabad. BKU (Charuni) activists led by union spokesman Rakesh Bains had reached in support of the villagers. After getting information regarding the dharna, the MLA also reached the spot, but he faced a protest.

Shahabad SHO Prateek managed to pacify the farmer leaders and provided a safe passage to the MLA.

Bains said, “Residents of Yari village had assembled to mark protest against the discharge of polluted water and gases from a factory. Later, a committee was formed by the administration to check the factory. Meanwhile, the JJP MLA reached the dharna site. We had already asked him not to visit villages till the farm agitation is on. We held a demonstration and asked him to leave.” — TNS
