According to STF officials, a tip-off was received that sharp-shooter Rohit would be travelling on a white Apache motorcycle without a number plate via the Baliawas farm house road in Gurugram through Faridabad Bandhwari. Acting on the tip-off, STF Inspector Narendra Chauhan and his team set up a trap in the area.

Upon being signalled to stop, the suspect opened fire on the STF team. A brief exchange of around four rounds of gunfire followed, during which the accused was shot in the knee.

He was immediately taken into custody and was taken to the Gurugram Civil Hospital. He was later referred to the PGI, Rohtak, for further treatment.

Initial investigations have revealed that the accused has at least half a dozen serious criminal cases registered against him in various police stations across Rajasthan and Haryana.
