Local shopkeepers disrupted traffic flow on the circular road outside Yadav Dharamshala for over an hour in protest against the theft in three adjoining shops that took place here on Monday night. They lifted the blockade after police officials assured them of nabbing the thieves as soon as possible.

The owners of the three shops came to know of the theft in the morning, and in a fit of anger, they, along with other shopkeepers, blocked the road outside their shops. The blockade caused inconvenience to commuters who had to use alternative routes.

The police, on getting information, rushed to the spot and managed to persuade the protesters to clear the road.

Sources said a watchman had also been deployed by the beopar mandal in the market, and the police had been patrolling at night, yet the thieves managed to strike three shops.

Sandeep, the investigation officer, said efforts were being made to identify the burglars.
