Shut all illegal openings on NH-44: DC to NHAI
Deputy Commissioner Manoj Kumar Yadav on Saturday directed National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) officials to shut all illegal openings on national highways, especially NH-44, with immediate effect to curb accidents and initiate action against violators.
Yadav on Saturday carried out an inspection of all national highways crossings from the district along with NHAI’s Project Director Jag Bhushan and other officials. The Deputy Commissioner first visited Badwasni and Joli Lath villages on the national highway, which is being constructed between Sonepat and Gohana, and reviewed the works. Yadav pulled up the contractor for delaying the construction of flyovers near Badwasni and Joli Lath and directed him to speed up the work.
He directed the officials concerned to shift the trees that had become an obstruction, instead of axing these, so that there was no loss to the environment. He directed that the trees be planted on the green belt of the national highway.
He also visited NH-44 and directed NHAI officials to shut all illegal openings with immediate effect so that that accidents could be curbed and said strict action be initiated against those making illegal openings in future. The DC also directed that a foot overbridge be constructed for pedestrians in Kundli, Rai and Barhi and instal signboards on entry and exit points on NH-44.
The DC then visited NH-334P from Bawana to Badwasni village and directed that a passage be constructed for the people on the service lane so that people going to Badwasni from Kharkhoda may use NH-334P.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the officials to construct a toilet at Bahalgarh Chowk and also directed that an NOC be given to the Municipal Corporation for beautification of the chowk.
The DC then reviewed the facilities at the Bhigan Toll plaza and found that Fastag sensor was not working properly due to which there was a traffic jam on the toll plaza. Pulling up toll officials, the DC directed them to update the fastag sensors. After that he visited the control room and enquired about the cameras installed on NH-44 and directed that IP and password of cameras should be given to him also so that he could review the situation. He also inspected the Jharothi toll plaza and found only two lanes open there after which he pulled up the officials and directed them to open all lanes.
He also directed the officials of the toll plaza to deploy minimum six vehicles for patrolling on NH-44. He then directed the officials to make arrangements to channel rainwater towards the green belts on both sides so that water did not accumulate on the road.
