Sirsa college celebrates women’s resilience

JCD Memorial College, located at JCD Vidyapeeth, celebrated International Women’s Day on Saturday with various activities organised by the Women’s Cell and the ICC Department.

The event included poster-making and slogan-writing competitions, where students expressed the vital roles women played in society. Other activities like ‘selfie with mother’, ‘role model speech’ and ‘nail art’ contests were also held as part of the event. Dr Jai Parkash, director-general, JCD Vidyapeeth, was the chief guest at the event, while Dr Sushma Huda and Dr Harleen Kaur, the principal of the management college, were special guests. The programme was chaired by Dr Shikha Goyal, principal, JCD Memorial College, and attended by several faculty members, including Dr Amrik Gill and members of the Women’s Cell. Dr Jai Parkash spoke about women’s rights, emphasising their contributions to the nation’s development.

He also highlighted the ongoing challenges women faced, including discrimination and violence.

Dr Shikha Goyal focused on the importance of eliminating gender disparities and promoting equality and empowerment for women.

In the speech competition, Punit from JCD Education College secured the first place, while Vishakha from JCD Memorial College and Ananya from JCD Dental College earned the second and third places, respectively.

In the ‘selfie with mother’ contest, Ekta from JCD Memorial College took the top spot.

The event concluded with a celebration of women’s resilience and achievements in all fields.
