Sirsa, Hisar shine in state school softball tourney

The 58th Haryana State School Softball and Netball Championship for Girls witnessed exciting matches on its second day at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Sports Complex in Sirsa. Players from across the state delivered impressive performances, helping their teams move into the next round.

In the Under-14 netball category, Sirsa defeated Sonepat with a strong score of 16-3. Jind beat Kaithal 9-5, Yamunanagar edged past Hisar 9-8, and Rewari outplayed Fatehabad 22-6 to reach the semifinals. Under-17 matches were closely contested. Hisar won against Jhajjar 14-8, Fatehabad beat Yamunanagar 17-16, Sirsa defeated Jind 23-16, and Rewari overcame Kaithal 20-15.

In the Under-19 group, Hisar beat Sonepat 15-6, Rewari won against Rohtak 21-7, Jhajjar beat Kurukshetra 12-4, and Sirsa narrowly defeated Fatehabad 21-18.

The semifinals and finals will be held on Friday, with both players and spectators showing great excitement.

In softball matches, Jhajjar and Fatehabad reached the Under-14 final after beating Kaithal (3-2) and Kurukshetra (6-1), respectively. In the Under-17 quarterfinals, Hisar beat Rohtak 5-4, and Sirsa dominated over Karnal 10-0. In the Under-19 softball matches, Hisar defeated Kurukshetra 5-1, Sirsa beat Rohtak 6-5, and Kaithal beat Panchkula 7-0 to reach the semifinals.

The championship is being organised under the guidance of Assistant District Education Officer (Sports), Harbans Singh. Rajesh Kamboj is serving as the nodal officer for softball, while Rakesh Kumari (DPE) leads the netball section.
