He said that festive shopping had already started, and markets were witnessing large crowds. To manage this, security and traffic arrangements have been strengthened in Sirsa, Rania, Ellenabad, Baragudha, Rori, Ding, Nathusari Chopta, and other areas.

Checkpoints have been set up on main roads and crowded areas, where the police will check vehicles and monitor movement. Patrolling teams, PCR riders and Quick Response Teams (QRT) are keeping a close watch on busy markets and public places. Traffic cops and local station officers will also be on duty to manage traffic flow.

Women personnel have been deployed in areas with high footfall of female shoppers to prevent crimes such as harassment, pickpocketing and suspicious activity. SP Gupta said that teams were keeping a close watch on anti-social elements and suspects with criminal backgrounds.

He warned that criminals may try to take advantage of the festive crowds. All station heads have been directed to strengthen their intelligence networks, increase patrolling and keep informers active. Checkpoint officers have been instructed to remain on high alert, inspect every vehicle thoroughly and report any suspicious activity to senior officials immediately.

Besides, police teams in civilian clothes are keeping an eye on suspicious individuals at markets and other crowded public areas. Surveillance through CCTV cameras at key locations has also been enhanced.

The police will also keep a strict watch on illegal activities such as the sale of illicit liquor, drugs, illegal firecrackers and weapons. Action will be taken without any leniency, SP Gupta added.

He urged the public to cooperate with the police, follow traffic rules and immediately report any suspicious person or object to the nearest police station or by calling the emergency helpline 112.
