Sirsa Property Assn opposes proposed hike in collector rates

The Sirsa Property Association has raised strong objections over the proposed increase in collector rates, which are expected to be implemented from April 1 this year. The association has described the proposed hike as “unjustified” and expressed concerns about its potential impact on the real estate sector. They have submitted a formal complaint to the Deputy Commissioner, urging the authorities concerned to reconsider the decision.
In the letter, the association highlighted that the frequent and significant hikes in collector rates were causing distress among property buyers, sellers and businesses. They argued that such increase would make real estate less affordable and accessible, while complicating investment and property transactions.
The association said the government had proposed an increase in collector rates by 25 per cent to 100 per cent in various areas, despite a similar hike just three months ago. The association stated that such frequent changes create instability in the market, leading to financial difficulties for investors and negatively affecting the region’s overall economic growth.
Vishnu Singla, president, the Sirsa Property Association, said, “We understand that the government has the authority to revise land taxes and collector rates, but such decisions should take into account the social and economic conditions of the region.”
Singla emphasised on the need for a fair reassessment of the proposed rates and suggested that the hike either be postponed or implemented gradually to prevent a sudden financial burden on property owners and traders.
The association also urged officials to engage in discussions with stakeholders before finalising such major decisions, while ensuring that policies reflect the ground realities. Association members and officials, including Kamal Singla, Mohit Goyal, Rohit Chandak, Parmod Kumar, Sanjiv Khemka, Sahil, Vicky Bajaj and Vikram, were present while submitting complaint at the DC office.
