Sirsa teacher suspended for arriving drunk at school, case filed

In a distrubing incident in Sirsa, a government teacher has been suspended after arriving at a school meeting in an inebriated state. The incident took place at the Government Senior Secondary School in Sukhchain, Baragudha block in Sirsa district.

The problem came to light during a monthly cluster-level meeting for primary teachers, attended by Block Education Officer (BEO) Manisha Nidipa. Kulwinder Singh, a JBT teacher from Government Model Sanskriti Primary School in Kurangawali village, arrived at the meeting in a drunken state. When BEO Nidipa noticed his condition and questioned him, Kulwinder failed to provide a satisfactory explanation.

The BEO immediately reported the matter to higher authorities and informed the local police. Upon their arrival, the police conducted a medical test on Kulwinder, confirming alcohol consumption. Following this, a case was registered against him under the Excise Act and the teacher was suspended by the education department.

It was revealed Kulwinder had a history of attending school intoxicated. Despite repeated warnings from school staff and discussions with his family, his behaviour had not improved. Just days before the incident, he had been found drunk while teaching students, leading the school head to inform the village sarpanch.

BEO Manisha Nidipa confirmed she had received multiple complaints about Kulwinder’s behaviour. She said, “The teacher arrived drunk at the meeting in Sukhchain village. We conducted a medical test which confirmed alcohol consumption. We have suspended him and a case has been registered against him.”
