The decision comes in response to previous challenges faced by students due to delays caused by external agencies. The announcement was made by the newly appointed Vice-Chancellor Prof Vijay Kumar during a press conference on Wednesday. In his first month in office, Prof Kumar emphasised the university’s commitment to transparency, fostering a student-friendly environment and providing adequate guidance for faculty. His objective is to change negative perceptions surrounding the university into a positive image.
Prof Kumar also revealed exciting plans for the future, including the potential establishment of an Entrepreneur Incubator Center at CDLU. He has formally requested an allocation of Rs 3 crore from the concerned department for this initiative, which aims to equip students with entrepreneurial skills alongside job opportunities. Despite competition from another university for this centre, he remains optimistic about CDLU’s chances.
Addressing concerns about fee increases for the upcoming academic session, Prof Kumar clarified that the university had not raised fees in several years. To enhance self-sufficiency and improve facilities and research opportunities for students, a modest fee increase has been implemented. He assured that even with this rise, CDLU’s fees remain lower than those of other universities.
On the topic of the university’s NAAC grading, Prof Kumar stated that past performance is no longer a consideration. He aims to cultivate a culture where faculty members build strong biographies and make meaningful contributions to both the university and its students, which he believes will positively impact NAAC grading.
During his recent meeting with Chief Minister Nayab Saini, the CM expressed full support for CDLU’s growth and emphasised that all decisions made by the university should prioritise student welfare.
Regarding internal conflicts among faculty members, Prof Kumar assured that these issues would be addressed promptly to create a positive and conducive environment for education, research and co-curricular activities.
Prof. Kumar also acknowledged the increasing concern of substance abuse on campus, labelling it a serious issue that requires urgent attention. He committed to implementing strict measures to combat this problem through guidelines and meetings with senior authorities.
Looking ahead, CDLU is focused on becoming a centre of excellence in education, research and innovation. For the academic session 2025-26, the university is offering 1,926 undergraduate and postgraduate seats across its teaching departments, along with an additional 640 seats in the University School for Graduate Studies (USGS). The last date to apply for various courses is July 7, 2025.
