Sirsa varsity marks Space Day, highlights role of remote sensing

Chaudhary Devi Lal University (CDLU) in Sirsa marked National Space Day on Friday. The event, chaired by the head of the physics department, Prof Ram Meher Dixit, featured a lecture on remote sensing by Gulab Singh from the geography department.

Singh highlighted the significance of the Space Day and role of remote sensing. Students actively participated in the event, which was also attended by various faculty members and non-teaching staff.

Meanwhile, students of Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Nathusari Kalan, celebrated the first anniversary of the successful landing of Chandrayaan-3 by presenting various models and charts.

Principal Satveer Singh emphasised the role of science and technology in advancing human life, praising the success of Chandrayaan-3 for bringing global recognition to India. Programme in-charges Sohan Singh and Sarita Chaudhary reviewed the models, noting the increased interest in science among students.

Government Senior Secondary School, Jodhkan village, also observed the day with a display of models demonstrating Chandrayaan-3’s mission to the moon’s south pole. Principal Mona Puri highlighted India’s achievement as the fourth country to achieve a soft landing on the moon.

Science teacher and event coordinator Ajay Kumar described the day as a symbol of scientific success, aligning with the theme ‘Touching the moon, touching lives’ and emphasised the importance of science and technology in India’s global identity.
