Sona, daughter of former principal Sunder Singh and Darshana Devi, studied BA LLB at the CDLU from 2017 to 2022.
A resident of Bhaini Maharajpur village in Rohtak’s Meham subdivision, Sona had been a gold medallist, said Dr Vikas Poonia, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Law.
“Her achievement proves toughest goals can be achieved through patience and right guidance,” added Poonia.
Talking to The Tribune, Sona revealed that her success came through unwavering consistency. Preparing for the judiciary for the past three years, she cracked the exam in her second attempt. Last year, she narrowly missed selection in the Haryana Judicial Services. “There were around 100 seats then. This year, Himachal had only 11 seats and I made it,” she said.
Sona said she had not used social media at all for the past three years. She studied 10 to 12 hours every day and up to 15 hours during exams. Her father’s dream of seeing her excel in a unique field inspired her to pursue law. She also acknowledged the vital support of her friends, teachers and mentors throughout her journey.
“Whether boy or girl, if one is consistent and determined, success will follow,” Sona said.
CDLU Vice-Chancellor Prof Vijay Kumar called it a proud moment. “Her achievement will inspire future generations to pursue excellence in judicial services,” said Prof Umed Singh.
