The district police have constituted a special investigation team (SIT) to probe charges of multi-crore fraud levelled against Meham MLA Balraj Kundu and his counter-allegations against the complainant.
As per sources, the SIT is headed by DSP (Headquarters) Gorakh Pal Rana and includes the Civil Lines SHO and economic offences wing incharge.
The SIT began investigation today. The complainant and some representatives of the MLA submitted documents to the SIT. Sources said some more documents were sought from both parties, which were likely to be submitted in a day or two.
The complainant, Narender Dhankhar, had alleged that Kundu and his brother Shivraj Kundu, running a construction firm, had got work on four construction projects done by him and his brother Ramesh Dhankhar, for which the company owed them Rs 10.5 crore.
