The police have registered a case of cheating against six persons for duping a man of Rs 14.62 lakh on the pretext of sending his daughter to Australia.

On the complaint of Harminder Singh of Peeruwala village, a case was registered against Kamal, Komal, Manju Devi, all residents of Butgarh village; Budhram of Kakroni village, Vijay Pandey of Shahpur village, and Gurpreet Singh of Chhatbir village of Punjab at Bilaspur police station.

The complainant said that he wanted to send his daughter abroad on student visa. He said that Vijay Pandey of Shahpur village was his acquaintance and had informed him that Kamal and Komal worked on sending people abroad.

“It is a gang of several people who defraud people on the pretext of sending them abroad. They duped me of Rs 14.62 lakh,” alleged the complainant. He added that the accused did not arrange for his daughter to emigrate to Australia, nor did they return his money.
