A large number of people under the banners of various social and religious organisations held a protest march against Bangladesh over atrocities on the Hindu community.

Demanding intervention from the Centre, the protesters gathered at Agrasen Chowk and took out a march, they reached the Mini-Secretariat and submitted memorandums to the City Magistrate, Kurukshetra, for the President of India, Prime Minister, Human Rights commission, Secretary-General, United Nations, Governor, Chief Minister Haryana and the Bangladesh High Commission.

The protesters, including local leaders associated with the BJP, sants and social groups said the temples were being demolished and the Hindu community members being attacked. The Bangladesh government must ensure safety and security of the Hindus there. The Centre should take up the matter and put pressure on Bangladesh.

Sailesh Vats, BJP Kurukshetra media in-charge, said, “People from all sections of society under the banners of various organisations participated in the march and raised their concerns over the safety and security of Hindus and religious sites in Bangladesh. It has been observed that celebrities and several famous personalities have raised their voice when the minority communities in any country face difficulties, but when it comes to the Hindus, no one speaks a word. A memorandum has been submitted and the Centre should take strict action.”

Meanwhile, Thanesar Congress MLA Ashok Arora also slammed the Bangladesh government for the atrocities on the Hindus there.

He said, “Houses are being attacked and the religious gurus being sent to jail. The Indian government is yet to take any satisfactory step for the safety of Hindus. The Centre should show its influence and take some steps for the safety and security of the Hindus in Bangladesh.”
