Sonia elected Kaithal Zila Parishad vice-chairperson

Out of 21 members, 19 attended election meeting
Sonia was unanimously elected as the vice-chairperson of the Kaithal Zila Parishad on Thursday.

Sonia Rani, member of Ward No. 10 of the Kaithal Zila Parishad (ZP), has been unanimously elected the vice-chairperson. The election took place during a meeting scheduled on Thursday. Out of 21 members, 19 attended the meeting at the ZP office, while two remained absent.During the proceedings, all present members reached a consensus and decided to elect Sonia. Supported by the BJP, Sonia expressed her gratitude to all members and said, “I am thankful to all members for their support. We will ensure inclusive development of all wards.”

The meeting was chaired by Sushil Kumar, District Municipal Commissioner (DMC), who is also holding the charge of CEO of the Zila Parishad. Zila Parishad Chairman Karmveer Kaul, Deputy CEO Ritu Lather and other officials were also present. Prior to the election, the administration had made all necessary preparations, including arrangements for voting via electronic voting machine (EVM).

“We received one nomination and Sonia was unanimously elected by all members present,” confirmed Deputy CEO Ritu Lather.

ZP chairman Karmveer Kaul congratulated Sonia on her appointment and said, “Together, we will work for the development of the district."

In January 2023, Deepak Malik was appointed as the ZP chairman. However, he was removed following a no-confidence motion passed by the members. Subsequently, on November 30, 2024, Karmveer Kaul was elected the chairman, leaving the vice-chairperson's position vacant.
