The petition did not meet the criteria of the Legislative Assembly’s ‘Disqualification of Members on the Ground of Defection Rules, 1986’. The Legislative Assembly Secretariat informed the Congress leaders about it.

The Secretariat told them the petition presented by them did not comply with the conditions of Rule 6 (7) of the Haryana Legislative Assembly (Disqualification of Members on the Ground of Defection) Rules, 1986. This petition was not signed and verified by the petitioners. Haryana Legislative Assembly Rule 7 (2) states that if the petition does not comply with the requirements of Rule 6, the Speaker will dismiss the petition.

A press statement from the Vidhan Sabha said the petitioners did not sign a single annexure on behalf of the Congress.
