Rohtak, September 22
With a view to bringing back school dropouts back to the mainstream education, six special training centres have been opened in Rohtak district for the children whose schooling got discontinued due to various reasons.
Addressing the parents of students at the inaugural ceremony of one of these special training centres at Kheri Sadh village in the district today, Rohtak Additional Deputy Commissioner Mahender Pal asserted that a good education makes us confident and enables us to take appropriate decisions in life.
“Education is not a preparation for life, it is life in itself. Getting educated is the right of every child and the establishment of these centres is a step in this direction,” he observed.
The ADC stated that the special training centres for school dropouts had been set up under the aegis of Haryana School Shikhsa Pariyojna Parishad and HPPI. He said 31 children had been enrolled at the Kheri Sadh centre, adding that six such centres had been established in Rohtak.
“The underlying idea behind the exercise is to bring the out-of-school children back to mainstream education through a bridge course,” he maintained, adding that after the completion of the bridge course, the children will be accommodated in appropriate classes as per their age from the next session as per the provisions under the RTE Act.
The officer exhorted the parents of children to send them to school regularly. He also advised them not to discontinue their studies for any reason, big or small.
District Project Coordinator Krishna Phogat informed that 200 school-dropout children had been identified in the district, of whom 154 children had been enrolled at the special training centres.
“Six education volunteers have been deployed to identify school dropouts and more such special training centres will be opened if required,” she said.
Block Education Officer Jitender Khatri asserted that the survey would be conducted thoroughly in order to ensure that all children who had dropped out of schools were brought back to mainstream education.
GMPS Head Teacher Anita Devi, education volunteer Pinki and members of the school management committee were present.
