Sports university pays tribute to hockey legend

Ashok Kumar, Vice-Chancellor and Mausami Ghoshal, principal, Motilal Nehru Sports School, Rai, paid floral tribute to Major Dhyan Chand.
To mark the occasion, a marathon and quiz competition were organised, witnessing enthusiastic participation from both university and school students. The Vice-Chancellor flagged off the marathon competitions.
In the school girls’ category of marathon race, Arzoo of Class XII got first position, followed by Sunidhi of Class X and Saniya of Class IX. In the boys’ category, Shubham (Class XI), Kartik (Class IX) and Arjun (Class X) secured first, second and third position, respectively.
In the University girls’ category – Reena of BPES first year, Diksha of BPES second year and Preeti of BPES first year got first, second and third position; and in the boys’ category Ankush of BPES, a student of PG Diploma in Wrestling and Prashant of BPES first year got first, second and third position.
A quiz competition was also held, coordinated by Assistant Professors Neeti and Anu as judges. Team D (MNSS) secured the first position, followed by Team B (SUOH) and Team E (GIET) in third place. A friendly hockey match between the University Women’s Hockey Team and the staff added to the excitement.
Vice-Chancellor Ashok Kumar, while addressing the gathering, said, “Major Dhyan Chand’s life is a source of inspiration for all of us. Despite challenging circumstances, he achieved glory for India at the international level through discipline, dedication, and relentless practice.”
