In yet another incident highlighting poor structural safety and maintenance of premium condominiums, an 87-year-old women was injured after plaster fell on her from the 20th floor of Spaze Privvy Society in Sector 93 along Dwarka Expressway.

Notice to 3 builders

The senior citizen received injuries in the head. On Saturday, a similar incident was reported from Signature Global Solera society, which is also along Dwaraka Expressway. The Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP), taking cognisance of the incident, has issued notice to three prominent developers — Spaze Towers, Paras Buildtech, and Parsvnath Developers — over plaster-falling incidents. The DTCP had put 38 builders on notice asking them to get repairs done within a week to avoid such accidents in monsoons.

In its latest communication, the DTCP expressed concern over incidents of plaster coming off walls in housing societies. The falling plaster from projections along the shaft is particularly concerning as it directly endangers the lives of those living in the buildings. The DTCP has deemed this a grave oversight and failure on the part of developers.

The notices mandate that the builders provide a comprehensive explanation for the lapses within seven days. Additionally, they are required to conduct a detailed survey of their respective housing societies within 15 days. This survey must focus on the condition of balconies, walls, stairs, and other critical parts of the building. The aim is to identify and address any maintenance issues, with priority given to those that pose immediate risks.

The DTCP has instructed that all identified deficiencies and observations during the survey be addressed promptly. The developers are expected to prioritise the rectification of critical issues to ensure the safety and well-being of the residents. The notice emphasises that any negligence in this regard will be considered the personal responsibility of the developers.
