In a move to strengthen accountability and enhance healthcare delivery, the Haryana Health Department has launched a new initiative under the National Health Mission (NHM) called Systematic Assessment and Resilient Transformation in Health Accountability and Knowledge (SARTHAK).

Dr Virender Yadav, Director, NHM Haryana, said SARTHAK is a structured assessment and monitoring framework designed to ensure quality improvement and better service delivery across the state’s healthcare infrastructure.

“Through this initiative, dedicated teams from NHM Haryana headquarters and the Directorate of Health Services will visit every district, assessing facilities from district hospitals to sub-centres. The performance of frontline health workers like ASHAs and ANMs will also be evaluated,” said Dr Yadav.

The monitoring teams will also engage with local communities to gather feedback on the functioning of health facilities and the implementation of NHM-related programmes.

After each visit, teams will compile detailed reports and submit them to the respective district’s Deputy Commissioner and Civil Surgeon. These reports will help district administrations identify service gaps, optimise resource use, and ensure more effective implementation of health schemes.

“This initiative will not only strengthen accountability but also encourage active community participation and ensure the continuous improvement of healthcare services,” added Dr Yadav.
