The state has urged farmers to stay at home during the lockdown period till May 17 as the wheat procurement in all mandis will not be allowed and no gate pass will be issued.

An official spokesman said from April 1 to May 10, total 83.49 lakh tonnes of wheat arrived in 396 mandis and procurement centres in the state, of which a total of 80.88 lakh tonnes had been purchased on the minimum support price (MSP) by the state procurement agencies.

Besides, till May 10, an amount of Rs 13,120 crore had been directly paid in the verified accounts of the farmers.

The spokesman said to date, as many as 92,8707 J Forms of 49,9058 farmers had been issued. — TNS
