Sonepat: Dr Jyoti Lochab, a researcher at Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology (DCRUST), Murthal, has been selected for postdoctoral fellowship in Craft and Hawkins, Department of Petroleum Engineering at Louisiana State University, USA. She will receive a scholarship of Rs 36 lakh per annum from the US during her research work. Vice-Chancellor Professor Shri Prakash Singh said the university’s priority was to enhance the quality of research on the campus and it was making a policy for good research work so that more of such researchers could be encouraged. Dr Jyoti would inspire other students of the university, he said.

Youth Festival from Feb 9

Rohtak: Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) will host the North-West Zone Inter-University Youth Festival from February 9 to 13. MDU Vice-Chancellor Prof Rajbir Singh released the poster of the festival in the presence of senior university functionaries and conveners of the various organising committees of the event. He said the festival, titled “Rang Tarang”, would be a good platform for the participating students to showcase their talent. Dean (Students’ Welfare) Prof Randeep Rana said 19 universities of Haryana, Rajasthan and Delhi-NCR would be taking part in this event.

Workshop on women’s empowerment

Karnal: The women’s cell of the Government College for Women, Bastara, organised a three-day workshop on women’s empowerment, focusing on self-care. Monika was the keynote speaker at the event. Women cell coordinator Meenu Anand encouraged students to participate actively in the workshop.
