“The Education Department is preparing a pilot project for this purpose. Selected blocks will provide coaching to meritorious students after school hours. If the project proves successful, it will be expanded across the state,” he said.

Dhanda said even parent-teacher meeting would be held regularly in government schools.

He said Haryana’s athletes were making the state and the country proud on international platforms. “The foundation for good athletes is laid in school,” he added.

He emphasised the need to ensure quality sports training for students in government schools.

The minister said he would personally review this initiative from time to time and strict action would be taken against teachers who don’t act responsibly.

Dhanda said, “Since Haryana is a Hindi-speaking state and Hindi is our national language, all official work in the Education Department should be done in Hindi.”
