Suman Bahamani took charge as the Mayor of the Yamunanagar-Jagadhri Municipal Corporation on Wednesday.

Former Education Minister Kanwar Pal Gujjar, BJP district president Rajesh Sapra and BJP leaders Rosy Malik Anand and Krishna Singla were present when Bahamani took charge.

The Mayor was present with her husband, Satpal Bahamani, and other family members.

Additional Municipal Commissioner Dr Vijay Pal Yadav and other officers of the MC welcomed her at the office.

Bahamani said active participation of citizens would be ensured in the development of the twin cities of Yamunanagar and Jagadhri.

“Our government will work with the cooperation of the public. Their problems and suggestions will be given priority. Transparency and accountability will be the basis of our working style,” Bahamani added.

She said cleanliness initiatives would be undertaken, and, under the Swachh Shahar Swasth Shahar Abhiyan, the cleanliness system of the district would be made more effective.

She said, before the monsoons, the work of cleaning all drains and sewers would be completed to prevent waterlogging.

“Efforts would be made to solve every problem of the twin cities with the help of councillors. Civic amenities will be improved. In the next five years, work will be done to make the twin cities beautiful, clean and smart,” Bahamani added.

Sapra said, in the next five years, under the leadership of Bahamani, the twin cities would touch new heights in terms of development.
