Teachers across state to be trained on AI; pilot programme held in Rohtak
The Department of School Education has chalked out a plan to conduct AI training for teachers across the state, with a focus on specific needs like lesson plan automation, personalised learning and streamlined reporting at the Block Project Implementation Unit (BPIU) level.
“The plan follows a successful AI training programme organised in Rohtak on Tuesday for school teachers and educational officials as part of the NIPUN Haryana Mission. The training aimed at improving the efficiency of reporting, documentation and communication in the education sector. Rohtak has become the first district in Haryana to offer AI training to government school teachers,” said Rupanshi, District Coordinator, Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN).
The training initiative, led by District Elementary Education Officer Diljeet Singh, witnessed the participation of 30 government officials, including 25 star-teachers/mentors and Block FLN Coordinators from five blocks of the district, she added.
The teachers part of the programme would now share their newly acquired knowledge with other teachers in their respective blocks. “The training programme was designed to address several challenges discussed a District Project Implementation Unit’s meeting, held on February 28. These challenges included excessive time spent on preparing reports, cumbersome paperwork, difficulty in real-time communication and the struggle to generate innovative solutions for school-specific problems,” added Rupanshi.
She said AI training introduced participants to a variety of tools and technologies aimed at automating and streamlining administrative tasks.
“Participants learned to use AI for real-time reporting and data analysis, such as converting voice notes into text for WhatsApp updates and generating structured reports using platforms like ChatGPT and Google Gemini. These AI tools are expected to significantly reduce the time spent on documentation, and improve the quality of reports and communication,” Rupanshi added.
She said the AI Training Session marked a significant step towards digital transformation in the state’s education sector.
By empowering master trainers with AI skills, the department aimed to build a strong cadre of officials capable of cascading AI knowledge and tools to teachers at the block and school levels, she added.
