Congress MP from Sirsa Kumari Selja has said that the brutal murder of teacher Manisha in Bhiwani district of Haryana has shaken the entire nation. In a statement issued today, she said that this is not just a heinous crime, but also a stark example of the collapse of law and order in the state.

Kumari Selja alleged that the victim’s family has clearly stated that when they went to file a missing persons complaint, the BJP government’s police brushed off the matter saying the girl must have run away and would return on her own. Had the police acted in time, perhaps Manisha would have been alive today.

The Congress believes that the suspension of a few police personnel and the transfer of the SP is nothing but eyewash, she said, adding that it is unfortunate that the real culprits are still roaming free.

Selja said that the BJP government’s insensitivity and incompetence are leaving Haryana’s daughters vulnerable. She said Haryana’s daughters deserve justice and security.

The Congress demands the immediate arrest of the accused and the harshest possible punishment so that no criminal dares to commit such a heinous crime in the future. Today the entire state is asking: Are Haryana’s daughters safe? The BJP government must answer this question, she said.
