Team of cyclists covers 1,000 km in 74 hours

A Health Department official of Rohtak, Mukesh Nainakwal, along with his team, cycled 1,000 km from New Delhi to Jaisalmer in 74 hours to give the message of environment conservation.

“The objective of the exercise was to underline that we should not be so much dependent on machines such as cars that we forget the strength of our body. Cycling is good for our body as well as the environment,” said Nainakwal, who is also the general secretary of the Suno Naharon Ki Pukar Mission.

The team comprised nine cyclists, but six of them — Ashish Sharma, Ravi Pawar, Badrudjama, Nitendra Dhillon, Mukesh Nainakwal and Manish Verma — completed the journey. Mukesh reached back on January 30.

The cyclists passed through Narnaul, Jhunjhunu, Mandawa, Fatehpuri, Bikaner, Phalodi, Pokhran and Sonar Fort city. They also cycled up to the war memorial at Laungewala (India-Pakistan) border.
