Artistes of the Saptak Cultural Society staged a comedy play ‘Gadhe Ki Baraat’ on the opening day of the festival. The play, based on a mythological tale, is written by Haribhai Wadgaonkar in Marathi, adapted in Hindi by Rajendra Mehra and Ramesh Rajhans and directed by Vishav Deepak Trikha. “It was the record 348th presentation of the play,” said society president Avinash Saini. ZAD Global School Principal Dr Preeti was the chief guest on the occasion.

A monodrama ‘Dedh Inch Oopar’ based on a story by noted litterateur Nirmal Verma was staged on the second day of the festival.

Lalit Khanna played the main character, while Omaxe City Residents Welfare Association president Dr Santosh Mudgil and Dr Raj Verma were the chief guests. The drama festival concluded with the saang ‘Veer Vikramjeet’ staged on the closing day. The saang, written by Pandit Mange Ram, was presented by the team of Sheonath Sangi from Sonipat. Dr Surender Dahiya was the chief guest.

The organisers pointed out that saang, the oldest folk theatre form of Haryana which was once the main medium of entertainment, is now on the verge of extinction with very few artistes left to perform it. Nagada player Subhash Nagada, folk singer Gulab Singh and artiste Jagdeep Jugnu helped organising the event.
