As part of the ongoing surveillance, 12 samples were collected for testing today.
The Health Department, under the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP), released its Covid-19 bulletin which confirmed identification of one new positive case today. Meanwhile, two patients recovered from the disease and discharged. No new Covid deaths were reported. At present, the district has three active Covid cases, with one patient admitted to a healthcare facility and two in home isolation.
The new case is of a 24-year-old male resident of Urban Estate 2 locality who has no recent travel history. He is exhibiting symptoms of cough and sore throat, and is currently under home isolation under the supervision of the health authorities.
Health officials emphasised that there was need for taking continuous precautions to avoid contracting the disease. They advised residents to wear masks in public places, avoid crowded places, wash hands frequently and maintain physical distance.
