Three policemen posted in the escort guard of the Gurugram Police were suspended for negligence in their duty. A departmental inquiry has also been initiated against them.

According to the police, on March 20, a prisoner lodged in the Bhondsi jail was brought to Sector 10 Civil Hospital after his health deteriorated. He was admitted in the hospital for further treatment in the prisoner ward.

Police personnel were also deployed to keep an eye on him, but failed to keep a check on him as he was seen roaming around in the hospital. Apart from this, it was alleged that the policemen were absent during their duty hours.

Upon receiving the complaint, an investigation was conducted by senior police officials. On examining the footage of the CCTV cameras installed in the hospital, the allegations made in the complaint were found to be true. Following this, the three constables, Mohit, Pawan and Dharmendra, were suspended and a departmental inquiry was initiated. “Further action will be taken on the basis of evidence found in the departmental inquiry,” said Gurugram Police Commissioner Vikas Kumar Arora.
