The BJP top leaders will spice up the party’s campaign at a mega rally to be held at the strategically-located Jind in the Bangar area of Haryana.

The rally, which is touted to be an attempt by the party to make inroads into the Jat land ahead of the Assembly elections, will witness senior leaders of other parties joining the BJP. Three JJP legislators, Ram Niwas Surjakheda (Narwana), Jogi Ram Sihag (Barwala) and Anup Dhanak (Uklana), who had resigned from the party recently, are also expected to join the BJP.

Sources said that three Union ministers from Haryana — Manohar Lal Khattar, Rao Indrajit Singh and Krishan Pal Gurjar — were among the senior leaders, who would address the rally. Union Minister and in-charge of the Assembly elections in Haryana Dharmendra Pradhan, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, Haryana BJP in-charge Satish Punia and BJP state chief Mohan Lal Badoli would be other key speakers. The rally assumes importance given the political significance of Jind. As many as five Assembly segments of Jind district fall in the three Lok Sabha seats of Hisar, Sonepat and Sirsa. In the recent Lok Sabha elections, the Congress had won all three seats.

Besides, Jind is also the stronghold of former Union Minister Birender Singh, who had dumped the BJP to join the Congress. He had given a call for the “empowerment of the Bangar area”. Not only that, former Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala, who was with the BJP till March this year, had also represented Uchana Kalan, which also falls in Jind district.

Sanjay Bhatia, former Karnal MP and one of the coordinators for the rally, claimed that the Bangar area would witness one of the biggest rallies in the electoral history of Haryana on September 1. The BJP’s election campaign would reach its crescendo on September 1, as all senior leaders associated with the Haryana elections would boost the party cadre’s morale in the run-up to the October 1 Assembly poll, he added.
