The Court of Additional Sessions Judge Tarun Singal on Saturday sentenced three persons to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) and imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 each on the three convicts for robbing a passenger after offering him a lift in their cab.

According to the police, on January 22, 2019, a man filed a complaint of robbery. He told the police that he was waiting for transportation at Rajiv Chowk to go to Dharuhera. In the meantime, a car with three youths on board, arrived there.

When they said that they were also going to Dharuhera, the man sat in the car. After a short distance, they showed their weapons and snatched away his phone and purse. They also withdrew cash through his ATM card and fled, leaving the victim on the roadside.

An FIR was registered at the Sadar police station. The accused were identified as Rahul of Bhangrola village; Deepak of Kankrola village in Gurugram and Bhanu Pratap, alias Pradeep, of Rampur in UP. All accused were sent to jail after interrogation.

After arresting the accused, the police collected all the necessary evidence and witnesses against the accused and presented them in court.

“On the basis of the chargesheet filed in the court and the evidence and witnesses collected by the police, the court today sentenced all three accused to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 on each convict,” said a spokesperson of the Gurugram police.
