Tight security in place for International Gita Mahotsav, says Kurukshetra SP

The SP said 10 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), and nearly 1,200 policemen were deployed, while nearly 200 CCTVs were installed for the monitoring.
Besides these, 33 checkpoints have been installed in the city for smooth traffic management and security purpose, around Brahma Sarovar and in the city area.
Speaking to mediapersons, the SP said, “The International Gita Mahotsav began on Saturday and lakhs of devotees will reach Kurukshetra to attend the event from across the country. For safety and security, ample force has been deployed. A meeting was held with the officers regarding the security arrangements and instructions have been issued. The officials have been told that collective efforts will be required to ensure the successful and safe conduct of the Gita Mahotsav, and any negligence will not be tolerated.”
“Gita Jayanti is a part of our culture, and police personnel who promote, preserve, and protect this culture will be honoured. The officials have been told to take immediate action on receiving any information. A traffic plan has been chalked out to ensure smooth traffic flow in the city. Nearly 21 riders and PCRs have been deployed on all routes. For the convenience of the public, heavy vehicles will be diverted to alternative routes”, he added.
He further said to keep a close eye on miscreants, the police personnel in civil dress will also be deployed during the festival. Any mischievous element who disturbs the public by hooting in the crowd will not be allowed to enter the Brahma Sarovar area. “We have appealed to the public that if they see any suspicious vehicle, object or person, they should immediately inform the police,” he said.
