Raking up the plank of ‘chaudhar’ in the Bangar region, comprising Jind and Kaithal districts, former Union Minister Birender Singh today said the time has come to change the fate of this area.
He was addressing the parivartan rally of the Congress, which was also attended by party’s national general secretary and Rajya Sabha MP Randeep Singh Surjewala, in Narwana town of Jind district. Surjewala too spoke in the same tone which echo the sentiments of having political clout in the region. He said this election is not just for change but also for bringing power to your doorstep.
Former Union Minister Birender Singh, while urging the people to strengthen the Congress leader, said, it was unfortunate that people of this region (Bangar) punish their own leaders in elections. You should learn from people of the Rohtak region, where despite some of them being inimical to Bhupinder Singh Hooda, always stood by him in electoral politics. “You should also strengthen your leadership of this region instead of trying to give tough times,” Singh said, apparently referring to him and Randeep Surjewala, who had suffered defeat in 2019 Assembly polls in their own segments of Uchana Kalan and Kaithal, respectively.
Surjewala said the BJP government has made life difficult for people in the past 10 years. The incidents of paper leak have ruined the lives of the youth. The papers were leaked 47 times in the state. He said the BJP government has collected about Rs 1,000 crore in the name of getting forms filled by the unemployed youths.
Surjewala said the BJP came to power by promising to double the income of farmers but made them shed tears of blood. The farmers who toil hard for their livelihood were not given MSP for their crops. When farmers demanded their rights, they were beaten with lathis, he alleged.
