To ensure proper water drainage at Bawa Colony falling under ward-16 of Municipal Corporation, Yamunanagar-Jagadhri (MCYJ), the corporation will lay underground pipelines in various streets of Bawa Colony in Yamunanagar at a cost of Rs 38.4 lakh.

Yamunanagar MLA Ghanshyam Dass Arora and Mayor Suman Bahmani laid the foundation stone of these development works in the presence of Municipal Councillor Sandeep Dhiman. The Mayor said that residents of the area would benefit from these development works. She said that pipelines of 200 mm and 300 mm diameter would be laid.

“This project will not only improve the drainage system, but the roads here will also remain safe and durable for a long time,” said Mayor Suman Bahamani. MLA Ghanshyam Dass Arora said that the triple engine government was developing every city and village keeping public interest in mind.

“Networks of roads are being laid in the country and the state. Work is being done to lay storm water drains, underground drains and intermediate pumping stations for water drainage,” said MLA Ghanshyam Dass Arora.

The Mayor further said that development works worth crores of rupees had been done in every ward falling under MCYJ area.

“In many wards, estimates are being prepared for new development works. Several estimates have been prepared and tenders have been placed,” said Bahamani. “Soon, a park will be built on nine acres near the river front, Hamida Head in the MCYJ area. Parks are being beautified in the city. Our twin cities are emerging as a tourism hub,” she said.

On this occasion, Surinder Sharma, Dinesh Upadhyay, Dr Virendra Singh Chaukar, Surinder Kumar, Vijay Kumar, Ram Kumar Kamboj, Dinesh Rana and Anirudh were present.
