Traffic violations: 1.1K vehicles challaned, 59 impounded in 10 days in Rewari

As part of a special campaign, the local police issued a total of 1,151 traffic challans and impounded 59 vehicles in the first 10 days of 2025, imposing approximately Rs 26 lakh in fines upon violators.

The highest number of challans — 195 — were issued for vehicles without high-security number plates, followed by 170 for lane changing and 125 for driving on the wrong side of the road. Additionally, 100 challans were issued for not wearing helmets, 85 for triple riding, 78 for vehicle parking in no-parking zones, 36 for not using seat belts, 26 for drunken driving, and 18 each for using black film on windows and modified silencers on motorcycles.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Mayank Gupta said, “The move aims at preventing road accidents by making all roads in Rewari safe. In addition to issuing challans, we have organised various programmes to raise awareness about traffic rules and encourage people to ensure compliance with the norms to reduce the number of mishaps.”

Regarding motorcycles with loud exhausts and vehicles using black film, the SP said anyone who witnessed such violations should note down the number plate number or take a photo of the vehicle and send it to the traffic police station in-charge at 7056666132. The identity of those providing information would be kept confidential, he added.

Meanwhile, the police today conducted a joint special search operation at Gokalgarh and Bikaner villages under the Sadar police station area. They inspected slums and other suspicious locations, gathering information about outsiders residing there and checking their identity cards. As part of the campaign, the police identified these outsiders and questioned individuals deemed suspicious. Additionally, they examined the documents of vehicle owners in the area.

A police spokesman said the operation was aimed at enhancing security and apprehending anyone involved in illegal activities.
