The Department of Sports will organise the state-level senior athletics competition 2024, for which trials for the district-level athletics team will be held at Rajiv Gandhi Sports Stadium here on October 28 and 29.

Deputy Commissioner Ajay Kumar said the selection trials for male players would be conducted for 100 m, 200 m, 400 m, 800 m, 1,500 m, 3,000-m steeplechase, 5,000 m, 10,000 m, 20 km, 110-m hurdle, 400-m hurdle, long jump, triple jump, high jump, pole vault, shotput, discus throw, hammer throw, javelin throw, decathlon, 4x100m relay, 4x400m relay, 4x100m mixed relay and 4x400m mixed relay.

“Similarly, there will be trials for female players for 100 m, 200 m, 400 m, 800 m, 1,500 m, 2-km steeple chase, 5,000 m, 10,000 m, 5 km, 100-m hurdles, 400-m hurdles, long jump, triple jump, high jump, pole vault, shotput, discus throw, hammer throw, javelin throw, heptathlon, 4x100 m relay and 4x400 m relay,” he added.

The DC said interested players should bring domicile certificate, copy of Aadhaar Card and two passport size photographs. Two players in each event and eight players in each relay event will be selected for the state-level competition, he added.
