Tricolour source of national pride: Haryana Agriculture Minister

Haryana Agriculture Minister Shyam Singh Rana said the Tricolour was the identity of India across the world and a source of national pride.

He was addressing a gathering on the occasion of a Tiranga March event organised at Kurukshetra University by the Media Students’ Association and the Indian Media Centre, Haryana, as part of the Raksha Sutra initiative for soldiers deployed at the borders. As many as 125 girls from 16 universities in Haryana are taking part, carrying Raksha Sutras to Indian soldiers in Pahalgam to symbolise the nation’s solidarity.

The Minister noted that during the recent Russia–Ukraine war, any citizen carrying the Indian flag was able to safely exit the conflict zone. Just as soldiers guard the borders, India’s 1.4 billion citizens must strengthen the economy by using only indigenous products.

KU Vice-Chancellor Prof Som Nath Sachdeva said daughters were making remarkable strides across every domain, from academics and sports to leadership and social service, reflecting their growing contribution to the nation’s progress.

Sachdeva noted that the Tiranga march sought to bind the nation together in unity and integrity. Referring to the recent US tariff measures, Sachdeva appealed to the youth to buy only indigenous goods, so that by August 15, 2047, during the Amrit Kaal, India can achieve developed nation status.

Former State Minister Subhash Sudha said the Tiranga March’s purpose was to instill patriotism in every citizen. The march was also being held at mandal and constituency levels in line with the Prime Minister’s vision.

Zila Parishad Chairperson Kanwaljeet Kaur described the Raksha Sutra march as a symbol of national unity and integrity. The eight-day march began on Sunday from the MDU University, Rohtak, flagged off by Haryana Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda.
