Gurugram, August 2
The Gurugram police have arrested two persons who were involved in cheating people by sending QR codes under the pretext of sending gift cards. A mobile phone with a SIM card has been recovered from them.
The accused have been identified as Rahul Kumar Mishra and Manoj, both residents of Sector 37.
Priyanshu Dewan, ACP Cyber, said the accused committed fraud by sending QR codes in the name of sending gift cards and then taking money from the victims. The bank account used for the fraud was in the name of Rahul, whose ATM card was in the possession of Manoj. “Manoj used to withdraw money from the bank account and hand it over to his other co-accused, for which he received a commission,” said ACP Dewan.
