Two persons riding a motorcycle were killed after their two-wheeler met with an accident on the bypass road here on Sunday night.

The victims have been identified as Jyoti Prakash (42) and Alok Kumar (27). They were killed after their motorcycle (bearing registration number UP-78- FP-0821) rolled down into a deep pit dug up for laying pillars of a flyover of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway corridor under construction here.

The bodies of the victims, who hailed from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh, were found today morning by passersby and retrieved by the police at 11.30 am.

Claiming that the accident may have taken place due to poor visibility and darkness in the area, a police official said the victims fell directly on iron angles spiking out resulting in an almost instant death. With no one around at that time of accident the rescue work got delayed, he added. The accident was noticed by passersby in the morning at 7 am, he claimed.
