Karnal, August 3
Two children were found dead under mysterious circumstances while their mother is stated to be in a critical condition reportedly soon after having dinner on Monday night at Risalwal village in Assandh block.
The mother has been identified as Poonam and is undergoing treatment at KCGMC. The deceased are her sons, Sagar (11) and Parteek (9).
The police suspect the cause of death to be food poisoning. “We are investigating all angles. Post-mortem report will reveal the actual cause of death,” a police official said.
According to the family members, the trio complained of stomach ache at midnight and was taken to the hospital. While the 11-year-old died at the hospital, the 9-year-old was discharged after being administered an injection. His health later deteriorated and was taken to the hospital again, where he died.
Family members have alleged that the health of the trio deteriorated after consuming the rice brought by the kids from the school as part of mid-day meal.
However, no other student developed any health-related complication, the police said.
